Charity Shop Hunting...

In the last few weeks I discovered "BookTube", a little corner of YouTube full of friendly people who love and discuss books. Now, this is right up my street and after watching some of their "Bookshelf Tours", I was filled with a sudden guilt because a couple of years ago, I got rid of around 400 books. Some of these were books that I loved and really wanted back, so I popped into town and hunted a few of them down in my local charity shops.

I managed to pick up 8 books for £7.40 which is absolutely amazing; I'm not fussed that some of them are a little beaten up, to me it shows that they've been well-loved. I've read most of these books but I'm so glad to have a physical copy of them again, so that I can get around to re-reading them.

Do you love books? Do you get any from charity shops? I'll definitely be spending more time in charity shops from now on.

  1. Such an amazing selection here, The Time Traveler's Wife never fails to make me cry. I love getting books from charity shops too, second hand off amazon/eBay is always a good option as well if you're looking for a specific book!

  2. Some of these are my favourite books. I loved A Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night Time when I was younger I went to see the theatre performance of it last month and it was amazing. I need to read the Fault in our Stars as I've had it since Christmas but I can't bring myself to read it as I know it's sad. You can find some great bargains in charity shops x

    1. The Curious Incident is really good so far, it's one of the only two in this pile that I haven't previously read. The Fault in Our Stars really did make me cry when I first read it, but then I saw some negative reviews of the book as a whole and there were some valid points! It really changed how I felt about the book. *Runs and hides from any John Green fangirls* x

    1. Yeah I didn't expect to find as many good bargains as I did. In every single charity shop though there was a selection of the exact same books, I had to really dig through to find the gems x

I think over the next few years I'll try and build my collection back up. I loved The Help too, I thought it was a beautiful book. I started reading TCI last night and I'm loving it so far :)

  5. That's such a great price ! I love getting already used books - it just has an amazing feel about them when they are well worn ! I buy a lot of books from the library. They do a hung where they sell off some of the older books to get newer copies ! I have read the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime and I found it very intriguing but interesting. On my list to read is also the kite runner and the fault in our stars. I mean - with all this hype about it I can't not read it. Although I am not one to get obsessed over books like that ! Enjoy reading them all again. I am definatly going to check out the corner of youtube ! Sounds great !
